Today, the City of Unley in South Australia launched its Active Ageing Strategy, based on one of the fundamental components of Active Ageing, the protagonism of older people. The City’s Mayor Lachlan Clyne highlights that “ageing is a cause for celebration” and reminds us that “everyone is ageing … we are living longer and healthier and everyone always has a meaningful contribution”.
The Strategy is the result of Alexandre Kalache’s time as a Thinker in Residence. At the launch Dr Kalache recognized the importance of the Active Ageing Alliance, a forum of active citizens who will be working in partnership with the City of Unley to oversee the implementation of the Strategy and advise the City’s development as an age-friendly city.
