Márcia is a researcher in the area of ageing workforce management and social and technological innovation for active ageing. She has considerable experience in technology assessment, and in coordinating private sector projects in the area of innovation, entrepreneurship, and management. She is presently developing a methodology to teach future engineers to design services and products for an ageing society. In addition, Márcia is curator and organizer of TEDx events in Brazil. She has curated two TEDx talks on ageingin 2012, including a talk given by Alexandre Kalache.

A PhD student in Production Engineering, she has a Master of Science degree in the same discipline, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ). Márcia belongs to the Service Design and Social Innovation research group, the Technology and Sustainable Development Lab and the Labour and Training Lab at COPPE/UFRJ. She also holds a Master’s in Business (Knowledge Management) from the UFRJ.
